Priceline, a website that is focused on giving you deals and travel tips on hotels has announced the release of an iPad app that will offer hotel reservations to its users.Through the app, users need only to fill out info regarding the desired destination and the app will display all the nearby hotels using an interactive map.
Users can view locations by ratings to help them pick out what’s best suitable for their lifestyles. The app offers substantial information about the websites including satisfaction scores displayed on the map.
The app is free for download from the iTunes App Store.

Chllingo downloads surpasses 148 million

Chillingo, a well-known mobile game company has announced that it has surpassed 140 million downloads of their iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad apps. This achievement comes three years after the company decided to make games for the platform.

Most of you might not know this but Chillingo is known as the original publisher of Angry Birds but when EA bought the company, Rovio Mobile decided to publish it on their own.

Chillingo is also known for the game Cut the Rope, one of the best selling games for the iOS platform.

Veracode says that Pandora Radio is sending personal information to Ad sites

Just last month, a probe team asked a number of Android developers to submit privacy information for a federal grand jury. Pandora Radio is one of the said companies and now, Veracode confirms that Pandora is sending user data that could be used by third party ad servers.

Data such as sex, GPS information, birthdates and more are being sent knowingly by Pandora in exchange for who knows what to different ad sites. Pandora defends this by saying that they were collecting personal information for the purpose of making the Pandora music experience more personal but Veracode begs to differ. If the jury finds Pandora guilty, it would mean a lot of penalties if not foreclosure.

The iPad 2 makes shareholders happier. Expected sales of 4-4.3 million units a month in 2011

A report from Digitimes says that Apple delivered a total of 2.4-2.6 million units of the iPad 2 in March alone. This figure is expected to go up to 4-4.3 million every month for this year.This is good news for shareholders as Apple has never failed to deliver with every product they released.

iPad 2 units sales in the second quarter alone is expected to reach up to 12 million units. It is highly possible that the tablet will once again lead the tablet market share like its predecessor did in 2010.

The iPad 2 which is sporting an A5 processor is praised by consumers and techies alike as it produced speeds of up to 9x faster than the original iPad.

Texas Instruments acquires National Semiconductor for $6.5 billion

Texas Instruments in line with its plan to expand its chip portfolio buys National Semiconductor for $6.5 billion. Texas Instruments is known to produce chips for a number of mobile phones including Optimus 3D. By acquiring National Semiconductor, Texas Instruments will have access to the former’s 12,000 analog products and design tools.

A statement from TI’s chairman, Rich Templeton says that the company believes that it could magnify National Semiconductor’s sales with TI’s salesforce and thus producing substantial returns on their investment.

Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, they’re all what’s powering our smartphones and it looks like we could expect the race to produce better chipsets to heat up as they expand.

The first Transparent LCD Notebook

It seems that Samsung is unstoppable when it comes to producing the most innovative technologies to offer the world as they introduce the first ever 14 inch LCD display, although this technology has been produced by Samsung with OLED display before instead of LCD.

The notebook has a 14 inch LCD display with a 1680 x 1080 resolution and a white LED unit installed on all four corners of the display.

The technology is not yet polished to the point that it could be made available to the market but it is announced to come by the end of 2011 to the beginning of 2012.
